I never knew what I was meant to do in life until I held my first camera.

Pressing a red button and letting life unfold before me was the most natural thing to me. Telling stories, giving experiences to others; sharing with people the feelings that art has given me - these are what drive me in my work. Every frame is an opportunity to move your viewer, to ignite goosebumps or a lump in the throat.

It’s a responsibility and a privilege. That’s why my favorite artists surround me at my desk, like my inspirations are all an audience to my work. Old friends that set the standard for what I strive to create for others. From the simplest projects to complex full-length features, I aim to inject my work with the same passion that created the art around me. It’s a subtle reminder of what’s possible in this medium and how blessed I am to be able to call it my career.

The art that inspires Nevin’s career as a cinematographer

Daniel Plainview, a character of legend in cinema history now. There Will Be Blood is a constant inspiration in its return to what I’d consider pure cinema. Raw acting, set design, cinematography, everything feels authentic and powerful.

This little four-eyes is a piece that caught my attention in an art gallery in Paris. I’m always drawn to abstract human forms and she certainly fits that description.

My favorite piece from Vasily Kafanov, an artist who appears all over my space. A special blend of abstract and renaissance-era storytelling-through-painting.

This piece was made for the vinyl release of Bon Iver’s i,i record. A piece of music that holds a lot of love in my heart for the time and place I first listened to it

Moonlight gets two spots on the wall. It’s a movie I return to every time I want to remind myself what I’m striving for. A real masterpiece in exploring humanity and growth through film.

An original piece by my five year-old niece done with Crayola markers. I believe this is a portrait of me. Easily my most cherished item.
